4/24/2009 - What a finale for Making The Band. Love, hate, music, dancing and NO DREA! Boo at my life at that point. However, overall a productive night I am especially happy for Donnie being able to speak his mind I hope he gets his solo show. Aubrey has her own show coming out and I'm at a loss for this website, where do we go from here?

04/17/2009 - I am at a complete loss for words what in gods name is Diddy thinking through this whole situation? Letting people out of their contracts, splitting the group up, and now...now...firing Aundrea? Are we serious right now? Is this whats poppin in the hood? Dawn? Seriously? Dawn on a solo? The rumors for the past 2 years turn out to finally be true? I'm speechless. I can't believe this. Read down the page for more info on this story. AHHHHHH!!

Diddy Debuts New Talent

February 2nd, 2008

Diddy may still be the hardest working man in the industry. In front of a packed house at New York’s Spotlight, home to the popular biweekly “R&B Live” showcase, the music mogul introduced the new faces of Bad Boy Entertainment to the industry. With music executives like Lyor Cohen, Kevin Liles, Andre Harrell and others seated in the audience, Diddy worked the room like a pro, shaking hands and networking with everyone from the higher-ups to the interns.

The night belonged to Bad Boy, as Danity Kane, the Makin’ The Band 4 boys, Mario Winans, and Cheri Dennis were among the acts to perform, and each act had their CEO’s undivided attention. As sweat trickled down the cheeks of Mario Winans during his performance of “I Don’t Wanna Know,” Diddy appeared from backstage to pass Winans a towel. When one of the mics failed the MTB4 boys, Diddy jumped on stage and did an impromptu soundcheck. And when his newest act, the OutKast-influenced Janelle Monae, flaunted her unique talent with a lively performance,  Diddy stood up on the booth where he was seated and cheered her on.

With newly appointed President of Bad Boy entertainment Harve Pierre close by, Diddy introduced his acts with excitement, as if to kickoff a new era of his successful Bad Boy label. But to the audience’s surprise, his special invited guests also led the crowd in song. Naughty By Nature’s Treach and Vinnie performed a medley of their hits, taking it back to the old school right before Dana Dane got on the mic.

Cameras flashed all night, and reality show producers followed Diddy and company around the venue to capture all the highlights. Some of the celebrities in attendance included Missy Elliott, Jeff Redd (who also performed), singer-slash-sex tape celebrity Ray J, Fat Joe, and others. In between his Makin’ The Band 4 taping and CIROC vodka promoting, Diddy is also gearing up for his “A Raisin In The Sun” TV premiere on Feb. 25. Read more »

Danity Kane – Damaged

February 1st, 2008

Hey everybody just got a hold of the new Danity Kane song – Damaged.

Check it out below:

Few music groups can say that all of their members were hand-selected by the iconic Sean “Diddy” Combs. There are also a small percentage of groups that can boost that they are certified platinum-selling artists. But, Danity Kane — consisting of Dawn, Aundrea, D. Woods, Aubrey and Shannon — are an exception, reaching that feat with their successful self-titled debut album.

Formed on the third installment of the MTV’s “Making The Band” reality series, this quintet is no stranger to the cameras of the small screen. And to further back up that, they are back with “Making The Band: Battle of The Sexes.”

With cameras rolling and once again being under the watchful eye of Diddy himself, the ladies have moved into a lavish Miami mansion, alongside side their newest male cast members of the MTB franchise, to record their sophomore release, Welcome To The Dollhouse, which slated for a March 2008 release.

In the wake of all this, BallerStatus.com caught up with DK’s Dawn, Andrea and Aubrey for some girl-talk on music, guys, hair, success, fighting and what it takes to really make a band.

BallerStatus.com: Tell me what’s the premise for competition between Danity Kane, Donny Klane and MTB male group on “Making The Band: Battle Of The Sexes.”

Dawn: Well, it’s not a competition. Diddy named it, “Battle Of The Sexes,” but we all love each other and don’t look at it as a competition. I think, for the most part, Diddy wants to show what it’s like when you have so many artists coming out at the same time. There’s a process to who comes out and who becomes his first priority. It’s like a race. That’s kind of what the show is about. [Diddy] is just showing the process of how an album comes out.

BallerStatus.com: You guys had only three weeks to record your new album. As platinum-selling artists, how did you feel about being given such a short period of time, by your label, to put your album together?

Aundrea: Actually, people never record albums is such a short period of time, but it’s kind of something we just had to do and didn’t really have a choice and we did it. We worked really hard on this album and it came out fantastic. We worked with amazing people like Brian Cox and Scott Storch. It just came out really, really good. We’re really proud of it. We grew up a lot with this record and it’s really Danity Kane, at this time right now. This time we got to write on the record. We got to really put our input into it. It’s a full dance record and we’re so proud of it.

BallerStatus.com: What’s the best and worst part of living with six guys?

Dawn: The best part was just singing and learning all about music. It was like being in an art school, so many different personalities and you learn so much about your craft. I don’t think there was anything bad. I mean, I think it was an interesting thing, because when you put guys and girls together, they’re gonna have little relationships here and there.

BallerStatus.com: Speaking of which, are any of you in relationships with any of the MTB male group members? I know we saw in the previews of “MTB: Battle Of The Sexes,” Aubrey and Donnie kissing and Dawn and Q pairing off…

Dawn: Um, [Q and I are] not together, we’re just really close friends. We developed a chemistry. You’ll see when you watch the show, our chemistry is just really undeniable. He’s a great looking guy and he’s sweet, but that’s all it is — a friendship. And [Aubrey and Donnie] are  … Read more »

With the hype surrounding this season of the hit MTV reality series “Making The Band” continuing to build, SOHH chopped it up with the “MTB4″ cast members on to get a sneak peak into what fans can expect from the show this season.

Last night (Jan. 28) marked the first episode of the new season, which features Danity Kane, solo artist Donnie and the guys chosen to make the boy band, all living under one roof in Miami, recording albums simultaneously. Outside of the in-house hook ups that are sure to take place this season, both group told SOHH that there was also actually music being made as well.

“There’s a lot for our fans to expect from us [with this new album], especially as artists,” Dawn of Danity Kane said during a conference call. “We’re going in a new direction vocally, with our dancing and just overall musically as well.”

The ladies, who also got a chance to write on this album, said that they worked with some of the industry’s heaviest hitters including hit makers Bryan Michael Cox, Scott Storch, The Runners and Danja Handz.

“I’m very proud of the girls,” said Bad Boy President Harve Pierre. “They’ve grown from the last album to this second one and I love their work ethic. And they also became platinum artists. It’s just good having artists like that on the label.”

But the ladies weren’t the only ones Read more »

When Sean Combs decided to put last season’s “Making the Band 3″ winners into a house with former winners Danity Kane, to work on their new albums all at once, he expected drama.

What he didn’t expect was love in the house.

“Because they’re on the same label, I didn’t expect that there would be some romance involved. But Read more »

With a new season of “Making The Band” debuting on Monday (Jan. 28), D. Woods, is ready to invade your TV screen once again. In this SOHH exclusive we talk to the singer/songwriter about Danity Kane‘s sophomore album, the new season of “MTB 4″ and the solo projects she has on the side.

For the new season of “MTB 4,” Diddy decided to mix it up by throwing the members of Danity Kane, the members of the unnamed guy group and solo artist Donnie in a mansion in Miami.

“It’s the ladies and the boys,” D. Woods told SOHH jokingly. “I said boys I didn’t say men.”

“It’s us together on the show, recording our album together, and living together,” she said. “It was crazy in every sense of the word crazy. It’s going to be shocking to see the interaction between the guys and us, shocking to see who got a little bit romantic, shocking to see who didn’t and how that didn’t work out, the downfall of rejection.”

When the members of Danity Kane and the new guy group weren’t hooking up they were making music. According to D. Woods, Danity Kane had more creative control over their sophomore album which drops March 18.

“It’s really interesting to see how Diddy Read more »
